Orienteringskarta slottsskogen

The orienteering map is specifically developed to be used in orienteering and meet the requirements for what a map should look like. This set of requirements regarding the content of the map is called the Specification for Orienteering Maps and applies internationally. The map is made up of different map features and colours that symbolize different objects and surfaces in the terrain.

This is what a course in orienteering can look like. The start is marked with a triangle on the map, the controls with numbered circles and the finish with a double circle. The controls must be visited in numerical order. 

The map scale

There are maps in different scales. The scale shows how much the map is scaled down in relation to the reality. In competitions and exercise events, a scale of and is often used. A simple rule om thumb is to delete the last two digits of the scale to find out how many meters one centimetre on the map is in reality. 1 cm on the map is thus m in reality.

The observatory is located in the large park Slottsskogen in Gothenburg, at Björn Hedvalls Stig 4It is situated on a hill called Stora vy, near the Slottsskogen vatten Tower.

There are several smaller paths to the observatory, both from Masthugget and from Linnéstaden (via Slottsskogen).

From Masthugget

To reach the nearest stop, take bus 61 towards Masthugget and get off at the terminus. There are several alternative walking routes:

• Walk up the path towards the Slottsskogen Water Tower. The observatory is located below the water tower, next to the Ödledammen pond.
• Walk past the parking lot (behind the bus station). Take the path that leads into Slottsskogen and vända left when the path forks.
• Walk in the direction of the bus and take the road (August Kobbs Stig) that leads into Slottsskogen. Walk up the hill and then about halfway down, to the street sign. vända right onto Björn Hedvall’s path.

You can also go to the Oliverdalsgatan stop, or alternatively Linnéplatsen, and take a walk from there.

Omaps är svensk orienterings nationella tjänst för orienteringskartor. Här kan du söka och hitta kartor att träna på.

Omaps har också en avancerad sökfunktion som nås överst i tjänsten. Förutom att söka och hitta kartor runt om i landet kan filtrering göras på grenar och år då kartan gavs ut. Genom sökfältet kan du till exempel söka efter "MTBO" för att hitta specifika MTBO-kartor eller dra i reglaget för årtal för att endast visa de nyaste kartorna.
